TOFTE FAMILY   -   English summary.

Torill (vocals) and Olav Tofte (vocals/guitars/songwriter) started the band “Don’t mess with Alice” back in 1994. They changed the name of their band to “Tofte” in 2001. And to “Tofte Family” in 2020, since their oldest daughter Pernille (vocals) had been a part of the band for quite a while. They perform both alone, or with a bass player, a drummer and a second guitar player. They have managed to create a great interest for their strong harmony vocals, and the fact that they are a family being on stage together. And last but not least, they perform catchy original songs. «Don’t mess with Alice»/»Tofte»/«Tofte Family» have performed on almost all kind of stages. From small pubs, via church concerts, to outdoor country festivals - Vinstra (NO), Skjåk (NO), Breim (NO), Seljord (NO), Down on the farm (NO), Lida (SE), Silkeborg (DK) and Skagen (DK).

In 2023 «Tofte Family’s» music can be heard on thousands of all kinds of radio stations worldwide - Australia, South Africa, Europe, USA and Canada. A result of Olav’s tireless work, assisted by priceless assistance from Andrew Dean/«Nite*Sky», Nashville and Kayden Gordon/Kayden Gordon Radio Network, Boston, USA. And a big deal, in October Torill and Olav was invited and participated in “Texas Sounds International Country Awards”, at Memorial City Hall Performance Center in Marshall, Texas. There they won the Award for best duo/trio. The following week they recorded 3 new songs in Nashville, with their friends Erik Halbig – producer/guitarist («Lone Star», Collin Rae, and others), Tim Grogan – drums (Desert Rose Band, Tanya Tucker, and others) and Jay Weaver – bass (Dolly Parton, Mavericks, Jim Lauderdale, and others).

In addition, Kyle Everson - steele/lapsteel (Martina McBride) and David Browning - keys. The songs «What a joy», «Faithful forever» and «Modern world» will contain “Tofte Family’s” well-known harmony voices, and will be released in 2024.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In 2016 Tofte family released the album/CD  “From Earth to Heaven”. The album which was recorded live in their own house, contained songs with Christian lyrics. Digitally distributed by Mudistore, Norway.   In 2001 Torill and Olav released the In 2020 Torill, Pernille and Olav, recorded an album at Kleiva Studio, Halden, NO. With Freddy Holm as a producer. He also played guitars, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, lap steel, pedal steel, citar and keys. And with Eivind Kløverød - drums/perc, and Finn Tore Tokle - bass. Digitally promoted by FAJo, NO, Eagle Country Radio, FR and Nite*Sky Records, US. From 2020 till 2023 their original music has been played on Radio in 10 European countries, some in Australia and in five states in the US. Their biggest Radio achievement was being voted on for nearly 7 months (March to October, 2021) on Star Radio, Nashville’s Top 40. Again Nite*Sky, US assisted with digital promotion. And their YouTube videos “Midnight Flyer”, “Living Man” and “Coming home” have been shown on the digital TV channels “Hot Country TV” in Ireland, and “Gethsemane on TV” in Australia.

In 2017 Torill and Olav went to Nashville, and recorded 3 original songs – “The star”, “Answered prayers” and “Pray, work and stand tall”. At the 515 Studio. Together with their guitar player and producer friend Erik Halbig, Tim Grogan - drums/perc, Jay Weaver – bass and Billy Nobel – keys. This became a musical career injection in Norway. Digitally distributed by Indigoboom, Norway and Nite*Sky, USA.

Between 1995 and 2001, Torill and Olav released original songs both in Norway by themselves, and on the indie labels The Country Gazette, Comstock Records, Nite*Sky Records and Hill Topper Records in the USA.
